Fired From A Job? Don’t Let Bitterness Win

Ever feel so bitter toward an employer—or former employer—you actually hate them?

Most people have probably been there.

I remember in college, when my former employer came up in conversation, I blurted out, "Someone ought to blow up their warehouse."

My girlfriend looked at me aghast.

Surely, she knows I'm kidding, I thought.

But my assurances that I was didn't seem to erase what I had just thought aloud.

And truth be told, although I would never violate anyone's property, I had actually meant it.

If karma were real, after the stress that company had caused me, it deserved to suffer loss.

You know you're in dangerous territory, though, when you start legitimately wishing harm to someone's person or property.

Although I fully support legally seeking punitive damages when wronged, sometimes there's nothing we can do about it.

In those situations, bitterness becomes the worst enemy. It keeps us from moving on with our life and can sour our personality, damaging our relationships with people we care about.
