Liberal democracy doesn’t offer freedom. It’s essentially liberal authoritarianism, because as soon as the people vote their interests (typically authoritarian, nationalist strongmen who will use xenophobia to crush liberal internationalists) liberal “democratic” elites cheat by using what should be neutral institutions to crush the actual democratic majority that prefers nationalist authoritarianism.
