Make Up For Lost Time By Cutting The Losses
Imagine where you’d be if you could relive early adulthood without wasting any time.
Where would we all be in life if we could go back to fifteen, knowing what we know now?
If we’re honest, most of us would admit that if we had always used time wisely, we’d have a larger friend network, more money, more accomplishments, and we’d be generally happier.
When we waste years on a path that leads to nowhere, it can provoke intense despair and, at times, depression.
Maybe you poured years into a failed relationship that you were certain would last forever.
Perhaps you poured years into a business venture or a career — only to lose that business or get fired.
Maybe you wasted years getting a degree that you’re unlikely to ever use.
We can beat ourselves up for wasteful relationships, useless jobs, toxic friendships, needless degrees, and unhealthy living, but doing so only wastes time in the here and now.
Hating ourselves for previous self-inflicted pain won’t change history and counter-productively keeps us from making our future better than our past.
Instead of wishing you could go back to fifteen, add the years between fifteen and your current age. Now, imagine yourself…
