Spring 2020 Will Be Remembered For Cool Weather And Family Outings
People will remember the spring of 2020 for the rest of their lives, but not how they thought at the time.
At the risk of sounding like a sappy optimist, I’m convinced that most people will remember the spring of 2020 fondly.
I don’t mean to minimize the suffering felt by those who have lost loved ones to the pandemic. But two factors combined to give the spring of 2020 an aura of peace that mitigates much of the pain and suffering that came because of the Coronavirus. They were social distancing and cool weather.
The stress of modern corporate life and the diminished manufacturing that drives underemployed people to work longer hours than their parents has taken its toll on the family.
While Generation X suffered through unprecedented divorce levels, at least half of Millennials gave up on families entirely. Many who didn’t sacrificed their mental health and career hopes to make ends meet.
The pandemic forced families together. It isolated them from social distractions. Although some families likely found they don’t like each other that much, I’m willing to believe most found ways to enjoy their time together.
