The reason we’ve only accumulated Soviet-style wealth is because we prepared for careers as if we were living in a Soviet economy. Living a secure, middle-class lifestyle comes from supplying what people demand. If you’re stuck in perpetual unpaid internships or only earning $30K a year, STOP WORKING IN THAT FIELD! Go work in an industry that supplies something that people actually demand enough to pay good money for.

For instance, I’m not wasting my time trying to use my liberal arts Master’s for at least two years because I can make more money, and pay my debt off faster, waiting tables and working side gigs than anything that degree can get me starting out.
