This article is highly misleading. I’ve made so much money working full-time in the gig economy, I haven’t had to put in a job application in three years.

Here’s how the market works. The company owner’s job is to charge as much as he can, while keeping his costs as low as possible. The customer’s job is to pay as little as possible. My job, as an independent contractor, is to make as much money as possible, in the shortest amount of time possible.

None of us cares about each other, nor should we. We’re all looking out for number one. But, in the end, we all come away happy, because if we’re not happy there’s no shortage of options and competition in the gig economy.

Thanks to the gig economy, thousands of would-be homeless have been able to pay their rent on time, hundreds of men have been able to afford engagement rings, thousands of poor parents have been able to afford Christmas and birthday presents, and thousands of people with day jobs have been able to pay off debt faster.

The gig economy is one of the few bright spots of the internet economy.
